• Prije svake operacije katarakte, ili operacija sa ugradnjom multifokalnih sočiva, u toku preoperativnog pregleda radi se niz dijagnostičkih procedura kako bi se osigurao najbolji mogući ishod operacije.
• Jedna od tih procedura je i biometrija oka, odnosno niz mjerenja na oku kako bi se dobio najbolji izračun jačine intraokularnog sočiva koje će biti implantirano u oko kako bi se korigovala dioptrija za daljinu i blizinu (multifokalna sočiva), ili kako bi pacijent ponovo mogao da vidi na daljinu bez naočala (monofokalna sočiva kod operacije katarakte).
• Najsavremeniji aparat trenutno na tržištu je od sada i kod nas. Radi se o biometru Argos, američke kompanije Alcon.
• Prednosti ovog aparata su sljedeće:
o 1.5x brže mjerenje parametara na oku u odnosnu na ostale aparate ove vrste, što skraćuje vrijeme same procedure pregleda
o 2x više pozicija mjerenja u oku, što daje mnogo veću preciznost izračuna
o Visokosenzitivni OCT (OCT=optička koherentna tomografija, detaljno snimanje struktura unutar oka) koji omogućava maksimalnu preciznost i određivanju položaja kako očnog sočiva, tako i intraokularnog sočiva koje će biti implantirano za vrijeme zahvata.
o Tačno određivanje ugla astigmatizma (cilindra) na rožnjači oka, čineći hiruršku korekciju istog maksimalno preciznom
o Automatsko slanje svih podataka u softver operacione sale, što planiranje i proces same operacije čini mnogo bržim i jednostavnijim, kako za pacijenta, tako i za medicinsko osoblje.
