Obično se smatra da su jednom urađene estetske operacije, posebno one na licu, trajne i da nije potrebno njihovo ponavljanje. Međutim, rijetko se može desiti da je potrebno ponoviti operaciju gornjih kapaka, i to iz nekoliko razloga.
Nije odstranjeno dovoljno kože
Dobro je poznata stara narodna poslovica „tri puta mjeri, jednom sijeci.“ Prije blefaroplastike gornjih kapaka hirurg označava višak kože koji će biti uklonjen, te često može biti konzervativniji nego što je to potrebno.
Osim toga, označavanje viška kože nije isto ako pacijent stoji i leži, jer u ležećem položaju može da se desi da se zapravo ukloni manje kože nego što je potrebno. Iako je bolje ukloniti manje nego više kože, jako je važno učiniti sve da se tačno odredi višak koji pacijent ima, te da se na osnovu toga operacija uradi samo jednom.
Prva operacija urađena prerano
Uvijek napominjem kako je važno da se za operaciju blefaroplastike odluče osobe koje zaista imaju višak kože na gornjim kapcima, masne „kesice“ na donjim, ili one kojima je zbog viška kože suženo vidno polje. Mladi mogu da sačekaju, osim ako zaista ne postoji funkcionalni problem sa kapcima.
Ukoliko se ipak odlučite da operaciju radite u mlađoj životnoj dobi, budite spremni na to da ćete je sigurno ponoviti barem još jednom u životu.
Ostali faktori
Naglo starenje, nagli gubitak kilograma, velika i česta izloženost suncu, pretjerano korišćenje solarijuma, su samo neki od faktora koji mogu da doprinesu ponovnom javljanju viška kože. Ako do ovoga i dođe, operacija može da se ponovi.
Operaciju blefaroplastike potrebno je uraditi „na vrijeme“ i ne prerano. Ukoliko bude postojala potreba za ponovnom operacijom, ista može da se uradi bez ikakvih komplikacija i posljedica, posebno ako će je izvoditi isti hirurg.
