Kamra inlej (Kamra inlay) može korigovati dioptriju na blizinu kod većine pacijenata, odnosno omogućiće gledanje na blizinu bez naočara za čitanje. Kamra inlej koji je odobrila FDA je mikroskopski ultra tanko sočivo u obliku krofne. Jednostavnom metodom se implantira u sloj rožnjače kako bi se poboljšao vid na blizinu.
Kamra inlej je biokompatibilan, tačnije tijelo ga ne može odbacuje. Čak ima i funkciju u zaštiti od UV zraka koji izazivaju makularnu degeneraciju. Princip funkcionisanja ovog implantata je zapravo tzv. „pinhole“ efekat, odnosno povećanje dubine fokusa oka. Ovaj princip omogućava oku da gleda na srednju udaljenost i na blizinu bez upotrebe korektivnih naočala.
Ono što je najvažnije jeste da se kod implantiranog oka ne gubi vid na daljinu, odnosno da Kamra inlay ne može uticati na pogoršanje vida za daljinu. Razlog tome je činjenica da se ovaj implant ugrađuje u non dominantno oko, odnosno oko sa kojim gledamo mnogo više na blizinu nego na daljinu. Perceptivni faktor centra za vid u kori velikog mozga time ostaje nepromijenjen.
Tokom operacije, specijalni laser formira mali džep u rožnjači koja je providni prednji dio oka. Zatim se Kamra inlay implantira u džep i centrira iznad zjenice. Za razliku od kontaktnih sočiva, ovaj implantat ne mora da se uklanja, a i potpuno je nevidljiv oku posmatrača. Operacija implantacije Kamra inlay nije bolna, brza je i slična laserskoj korekciji dioptrije metodom LASIK.
Kamra inlay je reverzibilan implantat, odnosno može se ukloniti ukoliko pacijent nije zadovoljan svojom vidnom oštrinom na blizinu.
