Zavodovljstvo pacijenata sa LASIK metodom korekcije dioptrije je veće nego sa nošenjem kontaktnih sočiva, pokazala je posljednja studija čiji su rezultati objavljeni prije nekoliko dana.

Rezultati ove studije predstavljeni su na posljednjem Svjetskom kongresu za bolesti rožnjače održanom u San Dijegu. Istraživači su prije svega bili iznenađeni činjenicom da je najveći broj ispitanika u LASIK grupi potvrdio da im je noćni vid mnogo bolji nakon korekcije dioptrije u poređenju sa vidom koji su imali kada su nosili kontaktna sočiva. Takođe je konstatovano da se vid dobijen nakon LASIK metode laserske korekcije dioptrije može porediti sa vidom savršenog oka.
Studija je trajala dvije godine, a obuhvatila je ukupno 1.815 ispitanika iz 23 klinike širom Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, od kojih je 1.111 podvrgnuto laserskoj korekciji dioptrije metodom LASIK, a 704 ih je nosilo sočiva, prvenstveno meka. Pacijenti su ispitivani jednom godišnje i od njih su uzimani podaci o subjektivnom osjećaju dnevnog i noćnog vida.
Broj pacijenata u LASIK grupi koji je osjećao lošiji vid tokom noći smanjio se za 50% u periodu od prve do druge godine ispitivanja, te je sa 14% prve godine smanjen na 7% druge godine. U grupi pacijenata koji su nosili kontaktna sočiva, nije bilo većeg poboljšanja u kvalitetu noćnog vida između dva perioda prikupljanja podataka za vrijeme ispitivanja, te je on najčešće okarakterisan kao loš, ili sa blagim pogoršanjem. Promjena u kvalitetu dnevnog vida nije bilo.

Osim toga, primijećeno je da je veći stepen suhoće oka nakon LASIK-a prisutan kod pacijenata koji su prethodno nosili naočale u poređenju sa onima koji su dioptriju korigovali kontaktnim sočivima.
Na kraju studije, istraživači smatraju da LASIK ne zaslužuje reputaciju koju danas djelimično ima, a to je da je noćni vid loš kod pacijenata podvrgnutih ovoj metodi korekcije dioptrije.
